    General

At present, wireless technology relies on the advantages of easy deployment, low construction cost, and wide application environment. Data diversification has gradually become an important direction for network development and application in the future industrial Internet. AWT100 data conversion module is a new data conversion DTU launched by Acrel Electric. Communication data conversion includes 2G, 4G, NB, LoRa, LoRaWAN, GPS, WiFi, CE, DP and other communication methods. The downlink interface provides a standard RS485 data interface. It can be easily connected to power meters, RTUs, PLCs, industrial computers and other equipment, and only needs to complete the initial configuration at a time to complete the data collection of the MODBUS equipment; at the same time, the AWT100 series of wireless communication terminals use powerful micro-processing chips to cooperate Built-in watchdog technology, reliable and stable performance.

    FAQ

Q: Is there any special request for the 4G SIM that I bought to be paired with AWT100-4GHW?

A: The built-in 4G LTE wireless communication module of AWT100-4GHW can support global 4G frequency bands, so no matter in which country or from which 4G service provider that 4G SIM card was bought, it can all support with no problem as long as AWT100-4GHW is covered by stable 4G signal generated by telecommunication tower.

Q: Which specs of 4G SIM should I buy?

A: Normally, for each RS485 devices connected to AWT100-4GHW gateway, we require a 4G SIM of 30MB/Month. Thus, for example if there is a AWT100-4GHW whose the downstream is connected with 5 RS485 devices, then we normally require a 150MB/Month (30x5=150) 4G SIM card to be paired with this AWT100-4GHW gateway.

Q: How long is the communication distance between AWT100-4GHW gateway and other metering devices like energy meter using RS485 interface?

A: The communication distance of RS485 should be within 400m when put into practical use. But normally we recommend to install the energy meters and 4G gateway together so that we can cut down the wired communication to minimum. And once the data was pass to AWT100-4GHW through wired RS485, then AWT100-4GHW can send the data to cloud server deployed in internet using 4G wireless communication (without communication distance limitation) as long as AWT100-4GHW was covered by stable 4G signal. So, normally the most part of communication is still remain 4G wireless. RS485 wired communication will be quite limited which would extremely cut down the cost of later wired communication’s maintenance.

Q: Could AWT100-4GHW gateway and other Acrel products like energy meter be used for 3rd party system?

A: For this request, Acrel can provide 2 protocol for doing it but require the software and communication engineers who were belong to the 3rd party system’s company and have the ability to do the communication protocol adjustment.

The first protocol is Json format MQTT protocol which is used by Acrel system and devices with MQTT protocol. And normally Acrel devices (Which can be served as the final data upstream devices) can meanwhile support MODBUS and MQTT protocol which allow the 3rd party users to adjust the Acrel products to their own system (Normally using MQTT and MODBUS-TCP protocol, so the 3rd party system need to support both MQTT and MODBUS protocol).

The second protocol is Acrel API protocol which could be used for data transferring between system of Acrel and 3rd party system. And in this situation, a whole set of Acrel solution from basic metering devices like energy meter to IoT gateway and to a system need to be used.
